Had a rather peculiar dream with Locks in last night.
Hons and Ary were standing on the surface of an apparently barren, rocky planet. They were talking, but I couldn't hear what they said, nor see their faces (For my position was a nondescript point of observation somewhere on the floor behind them, looking up) The sky was oppressive, a perfectly vivid black, and scattered with the most staggering display of glittering stars I have ever seen. Hons made a gesture towards Ary, then up at the sky, and the plethora of lights oozed and melted themselves across the vista until they all sat in little clusters with blank night between them. Then, after looking closer, I saw they weren't stars at all, but eyes. Lockjaw eyes. Hundreds of them. The creatures were tangled and morphed together- They reminded me a tad o' that Red lock, only dark and inky. They were so huge and so many that they were the sky- And between the gaps of their bodies there was nothing but a stark emptiness. They had consumed all that was behind them, and now they were here. Looking down on Hons and Ary with distinctly hollow and hungry spark like eyes. And then Hons started laughing.
I have! No joke! It was before I knew what a lock was actually... ;-; It was a loooong time ago. My friend made a critter called the Acin and I fell in love with them because of that head 'hood'... but just recently I found Locks and it clicked.
In my dream I was in a forest environment, these two darker than black creatures had been incircling me and a... unknown dream friend. At first I wasn't sure what it was, but I was sure of one thing- I knew whatever it was could hurt me.. bad. I stood command in this dream, I ordered my friend to follow me as we rushed off the edge of this cliff like hill... For a moment I thought I lost whatever was there in this 'nightmareish' dream.. I remember a stone long arch bridge that didn't go over water or anything... so I quickly took me and my friend under the bridge and knelled down and signaled to keep silent and still. VERY still. Not one movement. For some reason it was soo important to me in that dream.
I was wrong when I thought I lost whatever creatures had been harrassing me and my friend, finally I see one jump down from the bridge and slowly walk at me and the other come in from the other side.. This is when I finally got to see the figure that I resemble closely to be the Lockjaw. However I think mine were muuch smaller- like bangleTiger sized. One gave off a really spine-curling trill. I'll never forget it, even if it was just a dream..
The only thing after that I remember is one walking straight infront of me. Face to face staring, and then out of the blue my ''friend'' snaps and tries to break a run for it.. The other lockjaw from the other side snatched him up and 'disappeared' When I turned my head to look at him, the lock infront of me opened it's maw abit as if it were about to bite me but then.. jerked off and ran towards the forest... i remember staying still. Not wanting to move. And then. Blank. Nothing else.
Weird? It's actually what inspired me to make my Quillion creatured because of their long tails. :0 I mean if you don't beleive me! I swear!
Very cool! One of my professors at grad school had a bizarre dream in which a Lock appeared, some time before she met me and knew what it was. When I went to a career meeting with her and she saw my sketchbook she freaked, it was an odd experience.
Locks are roughly tiger-sized on all fours. They're not super huge, just very long.
It's interesting that so many people see them in quadrupedal form when that's not their natural state.
They feature, but almost always in the background or underneath something.
Except once. In a dream (which I have entitled "Shapeshifter-Arena-War-Thing-Yeah") I was engaged in a brutal fight with someone who had shifted into that form. Which doesn't make sense until you read the title of the dream.
Nope. I probably don't view your gallery enough to. (As in, I don't always get a boatload of deviations from you, but I know that's probably because your more than likely busy .) Or they just don't stick to my subconscious. Maybe if I tried drawing one they would.
two or three times... but the one i really remember well was a 'dark shadow feeling' that had me yelling at it that is wasn't mine & to get out of my dream/head. I am pretty sure I was also yelling at them that they were yours and should go bother you. There was also a lot of swearing.
i think another one you were there and i was all 'keep them outa my head'. I have odd dreams.
yes, it tormented me constantly afterwards. i was in a dark room filled with those things and all they did was stare, i am not talking about a good stare. i am talking about the type of stare that eats at your soul. anyway i believe that these things are real and are just trying to tell us that they exist
Oh lord, a long time ago when you posted a lot more from your headworld, but not anything since you took everything down before coming back again. I can't remember any details, but I remember being given really good advice for a problem I was struggling to deal with IRL. The Lock itself (I didn't really get a sense of gender I don't think; not that I can remember anyways) was hard to look at, as it constantly stuck to the shadows. But it was one of those dream things where you knew what it was even if you never really saw it.
Many a timeI have dreamt of such creatures and things similar to them. The dreamworld my subconcious threw me in (literally) was of an oasis just placed near the very heart of a vast wasteland and a Lock was stalking me.
Before the dream got any further I woke up. *shrugs* I never figured out why it was there... that oasis is my retreat. Damn.
Weeeeeeell at the risk of revealing weirdness, I've long thought of Rippington and his cape, and how it came to be as tattered as it is (or was?). Thinking about what I'd read that indicated that he could fly as his will dictated, and the inhospitable environments he may have visited or the remarkably high speeds he may have traveled to get there. That created quite a strong, compelling visual image to me.
I had one before you changed up their look again. It was a Lock that had fancied himself up though. He had this funky looking pronged crest with red tips, almost like a styracosaurus, red feet, and a red tail scythe. It was almost like we were jumping through time or something because I remember scenes passing around us but he was standing still. He was standing there glaring and snarling at me, but not in distaste, almost like he wanted something from me, but I have no idea what because I woke up. I could understand what he was 'saying' even though he never actually spoke, but again I woke up before he 'told' me anything.
Um...It was weird. We were in a ship and near a huge domed window in space and the lock was in bipedl form but still locky and he was trying to make me read something, and despite it not being in English I could read it, though in my dreams text when read never makes sense so it was gibberish anyway. That's really all I really remember lol
I can't remember the setting of the dream, but I recall a Lock in its amorphous state drifting up to me out of nowhere and giving me a close up bird-of-prey stare before moving on. Very disconcerting, lol.
I know I have before, probably about three or four times, that I remember at least. Unfortunately though, it has been a while and I have forgotten what they were about, or how the locks played a roll(I do remember one where I was trying to hide from them though).
I'm sure I've already told ye' these but hay! Had.. Three, I t'ink! Wrote them down somewhere but.. I forget where. Memories are sketchy now at best. There was certainly one with beaky-nosed Locks running beside a car I was in. And one with Ceras and Shoon, Ceras being all.. Freakishly odd like.
The best was probably going into this old tower-house thing, inside it was fully furnished but rather dusty and un-used. This one Lockjaw hung from ropes of itself at the back of the room and dribbled everywhere and dripped through walls in a stringy web and made puddles of pseudo-black-hole stuff all over. The whole perspective distorted, everything sounded faintly under-water-y and the lights were going nuts. And it wouldn't stop freakin' grinning at me. Can't quite remember what it said to me anymore, but I do recall it sounded both intriguing and deeply harrowing at the same time.
Yeah, I had a dream once with them.. I found a ball, made out of several kinds of metal. I tried to open it by ripping the little metal plates away, but it didn't work. I felt asleep in my dream, then there was a lightning and I awoke. A little Lock, standing on two feet (about 10 cm high) was standing on a shelf. If was coloured like Ceras.. I tried to chase it, but in the end it jumped in the metal ball - which was open oO - and flew away.. That was about 3-4 years ago.
(If there are mistakes in the text: I'm sorry, but my first language is German.. )
I had a dream about this lock [link] I don't remember what exactly happened in the dream, since it was at least a year ago, but all I know is that it really scared the shit out of me... It was pretty wicked, very panther like and predatory.
I did, in 2005. I've never LARPed IRL, but in that dream I was part of a lockjaws LARP group. o.o Only that the locks were called 'Zarathus' like the artist. After a while I was actually in a lock body. I could do that extremely cool toothy trademark smile of them, I moved like one, and I could shift from quadrupedal to bipedal with ease. My 'character' was however pretty horribly evil and a cannibal. He didn't have a name, though, until my friends decided they'd name him 'Aktus' after my initials, which I find is a pretty stupid name. x)
I have i have! I think I already told you before. I have recorded it somewhere but basically... It was a city in broad daylight with basic geometric shapes for buildings. A tribe of people lived in this postapoclyptic cityplace. We were haning out doing something or other, i may have been initated, when suddenly locks appeared. Some warrior tribesfolks shouted LOCKS and people ran for cover to hide. I forget how it went but they were certainly hostile. i'll see if i can find the dream somwhere and make an amended post.
Yes, frequently at one point! Years ago back in the VCL only days, I had a period of time where I frequently dreamed about BEING a Lock, or turning into one! Gradually over time I sort of lost the ability to turn into one bit by bit. It became something else entirely, a sort of twisted pseudo-Lock that wasn't all that cool. I haven't dreamed about them in years, though I HAVE been meaning to draw one!
I have! It was really neat altho quite short. So I was drawing in this black ink and as I made a line on the paper it would turn into one and start messing up my page and biting my fingers. It was weird but funny at the same time.
I was in Dead Space with all the spiffy armor and stuff, just killing necromorphs like a badass on Titan Station. I was strolling along a crazy long passage in the medical labs and I found this guy, just kinda staring out the window into space. I could tell he wasn't a necromorph, so I walked up, wondering if he was crazy like everyone else I had met. The guy turned around and looked at me, I asked him if he was alright. He just gave this crazy grin and then did the little morph thing and turned into a Lock and absolutely scared the crap out of me. I tried to shoot him but it did nothing so I just turned around an ran back down the passage. He chased me and when I got to the dead end passage [that wasn't a dead end earlier] I turned around and he freakin' ATE me, all I could see was the dark mouth and teeth. I woke up and had one of those half-asleep 'wtf was THAT?' moments and went back to bed. xDD
Yep, that was my strange dream.
Oh, then I've had one where one was in a mobster uniform playing a saxophone. But that was only for about 2 minutes while fighting zombies XD
I had a dream me and a friend were being chased by Xenomorphs through my grandma's house and all we had to defend ourselves as a spork and shaving cream (WTFH). So one of the Xenos jumps at us and I grab it and start to strangle it and it turns into a mini-Lock (housecat sized), upon which I freak out and let go. It then runs onto my shoulder and acts like a scout and combatant for the next 20 seconds. O_O
