Had a rather peculiar dream with Locks in last night.
Hons and Ary were standing on the surface of an apparently barren, rocky planet. They were talking, but I couldn't hear what they said, nor see their faces (For my position was a nondescript point of observation somewhere on the floor behind them, looking up) The sky was oppressive, a perfectly vivid black, and scattered with the most staggering display of glittering stars I have ever seen. Hons made a gesture towards Ary, then up at the sky, and the plethora of lights oozed and melted themselves across the vista until they all sat in little clusters with blank night between them. Then, after looking closer, I saw they weren't stars at all, but eyes. Lockjaw eyes. Hundreds of them. The creatures were tangled and morphed together- They reminded me a tad o' that Red lock, only dark and inky. They were so huge and so many that they were the sky- And between the gaps of their bodies there was nothing but a stark emptiness. They had consumed all that was behind them, and now they were here. Looking down on Hons and Ary with distinctly hollow and hungry spark like eyes. And then Hons started laughing.
I have! No joke! It was before I knew what a lock was actually... ;-; It was a loooong time ago. My friend made a critter called the Acin and I fell in love with them because of that head 'hood'... but just recently I found Locks and it clicked.
In my dream I was in a forest environment, these two darker than black creatures had been incircling me and a... unknown dream friend. At first I wasn't sure what it was, but I was sure of one thing- I knew whatever it was could hurt me.. bad. I stood command in this dream, I ordered my friend to follow me as we rushed off the edge of this cliff like hill... For a moment I thought I lost whatever was there in this 'nightmareish' dream.. I remember a stone long arch bridge that didn't go over water or anything... so I quickly took me and my friend under the bridge and knelled down and signaled to keep silent and still. VERY still. Not one movement. For some reason it was soo important to me in that dream.
I was wrong when I thought I lost whatever creatures had been harrassing me and my friend, finally I see one jump down from the bridge and slowly walk at me and the other come in from the other side.. This is when I finally got to see the figure that I resemble closely to be the Lockjaw. However I think mine were muuch smaller- like bangleTiger sized. One gave off a really spine-curling trill. I'll never forget it, even if it was just a dream..
The only thing after that I remember is one walking straight infront of me. Face to face staring, and then out of the blue my ''friend'' snaps and tries to break a run for it.. The other lockjaw from the other side snatched him up and 'disappeared' When I turned my head to look at him, the lock infront of me opened it's maw abit as if it were about to bite me but then.. jerked off and ran towards the forest... i remember staying still. Not wanting to move. And then. Blank. Nothing else.
Weird? It's actually what inspired me to make my Quillion creatured because of their long tails. :0 I mean if you don't beleive me! I swear!
Very cool! One of my professors at grad school had a bizarre dream in which a Lock appeared, some time before she met me and knew what it was. When I went to a career meeting with her and she saw my sketchbook she freaked, it was an odd experience.
Locks are roughly tiger-sized on all fours. They're not super huge, just very long.
It's interesting that so many people see them in quadrupedal form when that's not their natural state.
They feature, but almost always in the background or underneath something.
Except once. In a dream (which I have entitled "Shapeshifter-Arena-War-Thing-Yeah") I was engaged in a brutal fight with someone who had shifted into that form. Which doesn't make sense until you read the title of the dream.
Nope. I probably don't view your gallery enough to. (As in, I don't always get a boatload of deviations from you, but I know that's probably because your more than likely busy .) Or they just don't stick to my subconscious. Maybe if I tried drawing one they would.
