You can have your cake and eat it in this case.
As for me, I place my best deviations in folders so they are readily available and I also leave them in the tangle that is my featured gallery. Which reminds me I have to clean it some day soon...

I personally like when a gallery looks sort of like a train wreck. I get the chance to stumble upon awesome things I wasn't looking for.

I personally don't care much for folders and categories.. I JUST WANNA SEE YOUR WORK! 8D

Messes tend to haunt me until I organize - though to be honest I have to say that I've also got a fairly high tolerance for being haunted by messes

Organize it if it's bugging you, but really? That's a lot of work, just leave it a mess unless you specifically WANT to do it..

I personally like galleries that are organised by visual style, I organized my faves by traditional colour, traditional drawing, digital, photo, crafts, humourus and tutorials/stock and that pretty much covered everything but still held it together with a somewhat close theme. I think its neat that you sperate commissions, but maybe you could sort your other work by lines and filled in work. When it comes to your style, medium doesn't change so much what you can make it look like.

I said organize, but then I remembered you have such limited time so really it doesn't matter! If you have time to waste, go for it, but I don't think it's too important. All of the art is beautiful no matter where it is. :>

Mess, deviant art already has catagories, an untamed mess gives the person who wants to look at your art a more varied example at a quick glance.

Eh... I think it's really up to you. Do what feels good!
