Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. H'okay, been a while since I've done one of these.  Life's mostly been work 24-7 with doodling in-between.  I was moved from DMO to working on Darksiders 2 at work a while ago, which was sweet while it lasted.  Unfortunately last week THQ did a number on us at Vigil and laid off most of the studio, me included.  So!  Looks like it's back to freelancing and commissions until I can pick up another gig.

To everyone whom I still owe a sketch commission: I'm going to offer you the chance to change your sketches over to the character studies I've been doing.
To everyone whom I owe a larger commission: I will be back to working on these once I get back to Austin.

Once I get you guys finished I may open for commissions again to everybody else.

Aaand that's about it.  A few people have asked where they can find out more info about the Locks.  You can follow my worldbuilding tumblr if you want to keep up on information/story updates, sketch descriptions, and general shenanigans as well as view sketchdump images fullsize. Getting laid-off bites ass, but I'd love to commission you if you open up anytime soon!

I've always wanted to try to commission a Fu-Beast off you. A sort of fusion of my celtic salmon birth sign and my chinese zodiac year of the tiger. Throwing tiger + salmon together to make some whiskery, red/orange/white/black koi-carp-ish oriental/celtic Fu-Beast mashup to interpret at your discretion.

I hope you can find more secure money sources as soon as you need them, but let me know if you'd like to take a bash at this concept for some cash in the mean time
