Wraith 3 by beastofoblivion Wraith 3 by beastofoblivion
Last one for a bit, I promise. I think this is where I pulled out the brush to try and bring in a bit more contrast.

A piece from the beginning of last semester. It's part of an ongoing personal project that is overall an exercise in using India Ink. And detail.

Wraith 3 out of 14.

I love your black and white pictures so much. It's so clear and detailed that it truly adds to the creature's pose.

Ah, okay. Cool.
beastofoblivion Featured By Owner Aug 21, 2007  Professional Artist
Nah, the ShadowWraith is a single creature. All of the variations are dependant on the number of demons possessing it, or however many personalities it breaks up into. No other Lock has it, just Yahndrall.
R-Eventide Featured By Owner Aug 21, 2007  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Y'know, seeing all these awesome wraiths made me wonder: are they unique to each Lock?

Love the shading, as always. :D And the sheer complexity of these guys. I don't know how you keep it all straight. Er, curvy. ;)

StormrageJunior Featured By Owner May 30, 2007
Really cool. The detail is awesome.
rachaelm5 Featured By Owner May 10, 2007  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
It's really cool to see what *you* think about when you construct these twisted things. I find the long openings on its underside to be particularly disturbing... And the multiple limbs things rock my socks.

...And yes. Detail. With a beastie like this, it's hard to have too much detail. :D
Abrahamlove Featured By Owner Apr 5, 2007
Awesome. Thank you!
beastofoblivion Featured By Owner Apr 5, 2007  Professional Artist
Thanks - I do most of the inking with a crow quill pen, and for the larger solid black portions use a brush.
Abrahamlove Featured By Owner Apr 5, 2007
Oiy, I want your inking abilitys.

With the india ink, i'm assuming here you're using a brush to ink this in? Like a tiny sable? Or, are you using dip pen?

this guy looks real mean (more so than the others) nice back contrast
inshadowz Featured By Owner Mar 29, 2007
I'm sitting here wondering at what kind of evolutionary forces would favour such creatures, rather than cute little furballs with big Bambi eyes and hidden vampire teeth who would suck your blood while you were sleeping and still pretend to be just cute little furballs in the daytime ;)
Venator-Somniorum Featured By Owner Mar 28, 2007
Another amazing wraith art really!
I just love it again ^^
koishii-kitty Featured By Owner Mar 25, 2007
lol. I need to work on mine more. your inking skills are just insane!
Raptorgrl Featured By Owner Mar 23, 2007
Your skill with India ink is amazing.
sorrowisapanther Featured By Owner Mar 21, 2007
My God, the amount of detail that's crammed into this thing is just astounding.

You are a freaking goddess.
Kisuto Featured By Owner Mar 21, 2007
I envy your ability.
SilvahScales Featured By Owner Mar 19, 2007
haha indeed you are :3 it would be cool if you colored them ( i'm sure there are different color scemes too) But i understand that would get rid of most of all the detail you put effort into. Their coming out great! it's hard to choose a favorite already...and to know now your aiming for 14 different Keep up the awesome-ness XD
eycos Featured By Owner Mar 18, 2007

This one's head and back are the highlights its design, for me. Super awesome all around, as usual. :D <3

Awwww how cute, I'll name him Fluffy. All in all excellent work, the detail is adoring.
beastofoblivion Featured By Owner Mar 18, 2007  Professional Artist
I'm pretty much designing them and inking them one at a time, though sometimes the inking can't keep up with the drawing.
evil-santa Featured By Owner Mar 18, 2007
It would be terribly interesting to see and understand the skeletal structures under these designs..Love the series so far.

Have you designed all of these prior to inking them or did you simply design one and ink then move to the next?

Wraiths - Gotta catch em all ;p
prayerofthehopeless Featured By Owner Mar 18, 2007  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
THAT IS SOME CUTE INDIA INKING. *hates myself for a brief moment*

How did you learn to draw things like this? I believe it's high time I tried something new...

Great Creature, I like how it's so busy but you can still make out everything, and the anatomy works correctly together!
