This one actually doesn't terrify me as much as the last one. He has a sort of playfulness about him, perhaps it's the color, or how's he's floating there with his little legs curved up under him.
Your digital painting skills are really improving, and excellent use of the orange light source, it really makes him stand out. I wouldn't mind having a little army of these floating around me, as long as I didn't have to feed them all. xD
Another amazing piece...Everything I was thinking about that first Lovecraft-ian creature applies to this one as well, aside from the deceptive symmetricality. I could almost see this one as a Nightgaunt--it's like a Nightgaunt without wings, one that flies under its own arcane internal power source. I love the way both of these creatures seem to glow with a kind of sinister, eldritch energy, as though other-dimensional forces are leaking through their very tissues from mysterious internal organs of ill-defined purpose (perhaps hunes?)...Very, very cool!
Fantastic design! The lace-like mantle and stretched skin make it seem almost fragile. I like the simple background too, it's amazing what a little color and line will do to give a sketch that extra oopmh!
Thank you! I'm glad you dig 'em, it is much more satisfying for me to see them colored as well. There's a certain style I have in mind, and while I'm not quite there yet I'm starting to get the hang of it.
